ABOUT US |
The Prince Rupert Special Events Society (P.R.S.E.S.) is a non-profit organization that organizes and co-ordinates four events for the community of Prince Rupert. |
Children's Festival (first weekend in March) Seafest (second weekend in June) Canada Day (July 1) Winterfest (first weekend in December) |
The Society has one paid position, an office coordinator. This person acts as a festival resource person and looks after the office duties. It takes as many as 200 volunteers, as well as the core group of 10-12 Board Members to put on these events. The costs incurred to put on these community events ranges from $80,000 to $90,000 per year. The City of Prince Rupert provides a grant of $15,000 for operating expenses. The remainder of the cost is covered by donations from the community, and the merchandizing of hats, t-shirts, and the Prince Rupert Special Events Society food booths at the festival events. In addition, many community supporters provide professional services. If you are interested in becoming a Board Member, please contact us. We welcome you also to join us at the monthly general meetings. The Prince Rupert Special Events Society holds its board meetings once a month (except in December, July and August) in their office space in the lower level of Prince Rupert City Hall (beside the water fountain). The Annual General Meeting will be held February 2011. |
