Prince Rupert Special Events Society
About Us
The Prince Rupert Special Events Society (P.R.S.E.S.) is a non-profit organization whose
volunteers organize and coordinate four annual events for the community of Prince Rupert and
surrounding communities.
• Children's Festival (first weekend in March)
• Seafest (second weekend in June)
• Canada Day (July 1)
• Winterfest (first weekend in December)
The Society has an office coordinator who acts as the festival resource person and manages
the festival office.
It takes as many as 300 volunteers, as well as the core group of 10-12 Board Members to put
on these events.
The costs incurred to put on these community events ranges from $80,000 to $90,000 per
year. The City of Prince Rupert provides a grant of $20,000 for operating expenses. The
remainder of the costs is covered by donations from the community, and the merchandizing of
hats, t-shirts, and the Prince Rupert Special Events Society food booths at the festival events.
In addition, many community supporters provide professional services.
If you are interested in becoming a Board Member, please contact us. You are also welcome
to join us at the monthly general meetings.
The Prince Rupert Special Events Society holds its board meetings once a month. The
Annual General Meeting is held in February.
The Prince Rupert Special Events Society is having its Annual General Meeting in Prince
Rupert on February 19, 2013, at 7p.m. at 424-3rd Avenue West, lower level. It is a great time
to become a member to volunteer for your community and share your skills or learn some new
skills while helping plan the community festivals of Children's Festival, Seafest, Canada Day
and Winterfest.
